If you have yet to discover the magic of Chrome extensions, you’re missing out… big time. We used the Grammarly extension while writing this blog article to make sure we sound/look super smart and avoid those silly grammar and spelling mistakes. (You can’t scare, scare, scare us there, their, and they’re.) There are thousands of different extensions out there with a wide variety of uses, so for today, we’re focusing on ones that will be helpful as part of your overall marketing strategy. Here are some that we use and think you should too.
Have you ever come across a link that is like a thousand characters? It’s ugly and doesn’t make you want to click it because it’s overwhelming and you might not be exactly sure what the content will be about. Links are kind of like the subject line of an email. They should be short, sweet, and to the point. The Bitly extension allows you to quickly create shortened links and post them to social media. If you pay for the Enterprise plan, you can even customize the links to make them more appealing.
BuzzSumo
The BuzzSumo extension is a great way to understand how your content is performing. Click it when you’re on a web page and it will display metrics like social media shares and backlinks. It’s not just useful for your content though, it’s great to use on competitor pages as well. You just might uncover some strategies to make your content more shareable.
You’re probably familiar with Facebook’s “save” feature which lets you save links, images, and videos to one place on your account. This extension allows you to do that from anywhere on the web. It’s is a useful tool to gather content that you want to post or share on Facebook later.
Ahhh… the perfect hashtag. Any marketer who’s familiar with social media posting knows the feeling of chasing popular, relevant hashtags that can be the difference between 10 views and 1000 views. The RiteTag extension is the weapon you need if you’ve ever fought that battle. It shows you how a particular hashtag is performing. Green means your content will be seen now, blue means your content will be seen over time, grey means low levels of engagement, and red means the hashtag is so over popular that your post will likely disappear into the crowd.
If you’ve ever helped build or do major overhauls on websites, you’re familiar with the grind of going through each and every possible link to make sure it’s working properly. On a large site, this can take forever. Use the check my links extension to do exactly that: check all of your links. This extension will direct you to all of your broken links so you can fix them and make sure your site is working properly for your visitors.
You know what you want to say but you don’t know exactly how to say it. It happens. At least it does to us. We already talked about Grammarly, but not about Wordtune. This extension is great for phrasing. It’s an AI-powered extension that will help you rephrase your sentences to make them easier to understand. Simply highlight the sentence you need help with and Wordtune will offer you alternatives to select from. All you have to do is select the one that you like the most! With both Grammarly and Wordtune, your writing skills will be impeccable! Just like ours. ;)
Chrome extensions are powerful, especially in the world of digital marketing. This is a nice list, like most of the lists we make, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. Grab your marketing scuba gear and do a deep dive into the world of Chrome extensions. It’s a magical place that will not disappoint. See you down there!
