It’s no surprise that Instagram continues to change, upgrade, and improve their platform. Over the last few months, the removing and adding of features have been constant (and overwhelming for some), yet there is a good reason behind them all. As often as the changes may be, Instagram finds new ways to tackle main business challenges and help its users support their favorite brands. As the times change, so must social media to keep up.

It’s like anything that’s brand new. Not all accounts have access to each new feature but don’t worry; you will get them eventually. Be patient and let others find the bugs before you do. That way, you get the best version, right?

Whether you’re in charge of creating content and engaging with your audience or our Limelight team does it for you (which are services you should definitely take advantage of), here are the most recent updates and features on one of our favorite photo and video sharing social networks.

Chronological Order of Your Feed

Now you may not care about how you see your Instagram feed but having the option of how you see the accounts you follow can help you in many ways. With three different options to choose from (Home, Favorites, and Following), customizing your profile to meet your Instagram goals can be a game-changer in how you interact with other accounts.

  • Home: nothing will change. Your posts order is based on the algorithm’s process. This algorithm bases the content you see on how you spend most of your time.

  • Favorites: this feed option shows you the posts from the accounts you have indicated are your favorite accounts.

  • Following: a chronological list of the accounts you follow. Basically, it’s taking it back to the way things used to be.

No matter what feed option you choose, the more you engage with others (especially those who like and comment on your content), the more love you get from the algorithm. We can help you with that!

Custom Link Sticker in Stories

Do you even story? We sure hope you do. Utilizing stories is a great way to share your recent posts, posts you’ve been tagged in, and content you want your followers to see. The Link feature is a game-changer for small businesses. It gives you the ability to directly link to your product pages, blogs, and services, providing another avenue to bring awareness to your website and what you have to offer. Now, a custom link sticker? We’re getting really fancy here. With a few simple clicks, you can go from a basic typed-out website link to a custom name.

Deleting a Specific Photo In a Carousel Post

It used to be once you post a carousel post, that’s it. No editing. Your only option was to delete and repost (and we all know what a pain that was). Now Instagram offers you another option. Even after you’ve posted, you can delete one or two photos only, not the entire post. What? How cool is that? To do this is simple.

  • Go to the carousel post you want to edit

  • Click on the top-right dots icon and choose Edit

  • Scroll through the photos to find which one you want to delete

  • Tap the top-left delete icon

If you change your mind and want to restore the deletes you made, you have just 30 days to do so.

Take a Break

A little more on the serious side, taking a break is a feature giving you the option to do just that. Reset and reflect on something other than Instagram. With everything this platform has to offer (especially for a business), it’s easy to overthink, worry about doing everything right, and make sure you don’t miss out on a single opportunity. Taking time to step away can create a clear mind.

Instagram will never stop with their surprises, and that’s what we love about it. As they continue to grow, so do you and your business. Limelight is here to support you in your company’s growth and create custom content while engaging with your community so you can take a break from Instagram more often. How does that sound?
