Every year around this time, the internet blows up with spring cleaning this and spring cleaning that. Well, guess what? We’re going to do the same. The birds are chirping, and flowers are starting to bud. Purging, dusting, and deep cleaning the house are on the list, but what about the spring cleaning of your brand?
As a business owner, it’s good to take advantage of the cleaning motivation that comes with warmer weather and put it to use in your business. Getting organized, getting rid of the stuff you don’t need, rearranging, and deep cleaning files will set you up for even more success going into Q2.
Taking the time to spring clean your business will show you what processes need improvement, help you perfect everyday operations, and give your company the breath of fresh air it’s been needing (of course, opening the windows helps with this a little as well). We’re jumping on the basic train and giving you our spring cleaning list…branding edition!
Deep Clean Your Space/Office
This one is the easiest and most fun (in our opinion), so why not start with this, or maybe you’ll end with it. You do you, boo. Cleaning your workspace will change up the game. Get the duster out and go to town, giving your office a nice deep clean.
Business is good when your space is not cluttered. Toss out the trash, dust off the shelves, and vacuum like you’ve never vacuumed before. Maybe you work in an office building where cleaners come through and they do the cleaning for you. Ask for a deeper clean or just take some time to do it yourself. You’ll be happy you did when everything looks fresh.
Sweep Out The Inbox
Some of you may be that person who has a little red notification bubble on their mailbox app that says 214, and we’re not here to judge, but subconsciously, that number shows you there’s some clutter going on in there that’s screaming “please help.” As a business owner, we know you’re busy and things like emails, paperwork, and other documents pile up quickly.
Use this time to purge that inbox. And while you’re at it, go through old computer files and delete all that unnecessary clutter. It’s going to be time-consuming and maybe a little painful, but when you’re done, seeing no more useless emails taking up space will reassure you that it was all worth it.
If you haven’t already, create specific folders to sort your documents on your desktop or in the cloud (don’t you just love the cloud?). The time you spend now creating those folders will save you time down the road. No more will you be searching and searching and searching for documents. With a folder system that makes sense to you, your job just got a whole lot easier.
Tidy Up Your Site
Now comes the real fun. It’s no secret that your website helps grow your business. If you let too much time pass by and important changes fall through the cracks, your site will collect dust and damage your brand. Oh no, we can’t have that.
Chances are, your company has evolved and grown since last spring. Maybe you changed your logo or color scheme. It’s possible you added services or got rid of some. There may be content on your site that needs to be rewritten to reflect your company’s target market (insert Limelight team to the rescue). Believe us when we say that fixing the small things like CTAs and text can make a HUGE impact.
To stay on top of things, don’t leave this task to a once-a-year spring cleaning kind of thing. Dedicate time quarterly to your site so your clients (and the rest of the world) are always up to par with your brand.
Freshen Up Your Marketing Strategy
Just like your business, marketing tactics are constantly developing. Each day, a new marketing trend pops up. There’s no better time than now to take a step back and deep dive into your marketing strategy.
Spend some time researching new marketing trends, investing in social media, automating tasks like email marketing, and analyzing last year’s data. We know finding time to spring clean your brand is easier said than done and that’s what we are here for. With the many services we provide and our marketing coaches available to help you, let us do some of the cleaning for you to ensure that what you are currently doing in marketing your business is working and is effective.
