In South Dakota born and raised....
on the playground was where I spent most of my days.
Chillin’ out maxin’ relaxin’ all cool
Got a degree in graphic design from a great big school.
My Momma said you’re movn’ somewhere else to find a job
I was young I was scared...I began to sob
I begged and pleaded with her day after day
But she packed my suitcase and sent me on my way
I ended up in Nashville... work’n in design
2 years I spent there, I was do’n real fine
After awhile ... my job didn’t float my boat
So I grabbed my pens and pencils... and my winter coat
I had missed my parents a lot... they lived in the Black Hills
The thought of moving closer... gave me the good kind of chills
So I whistled for a taxi and when it came near
The license plate said Minneapolis
... and there was some dice in the mirror
I pulled into town about 7 or 8 and yelled to the cabbie
“Yo driver... see ya later”.
Now I work for Limelight ... and I live in a big town
And that’s how my life got flipped upside down.
